Last week I got the itch to fill up on some new camera gear, and treated myself to some Paul C. Puff (Alien Bees) Cybersync triggers. I had been telling myself that I would wait until I could afford Pocket Wizards, but at over $200 each (and you need at least two to make them work, BTW), I simply could not justify them. Plus I have some other quibbles with them. They are HUGE! Did I mention expensive? And I don’t need 1600ft of range (and I’m sure that most other people don’t either).

The Cybersyncs are about 1/3 the cost, and still have 1/4 of the range, which is 400ft. That is more than enough for anything I will do. They are also a very reasonable size, with the camera mounted transmitter being about as big as your thumb, I looked into Elinchrom Skyports, and Radiopoppers (which are also really $$$), and Cybersyncs seemed to have the most consistent positive reviews. Paul C. Buff also has excellent customer service, all their products are made in the USA, and you have to get them factory direct, which is probably why they are so reasonably priced. Up until now I’ve been using Cactus V2s triggers (aka, poverty wizards), and they have served me well, but I wanted something with a bit more range and reliability. I also picked up a Pelican 1060 case to keep them safe. The cybersync pics were taken with the V2s.
